What Makes Me a Rebel??

This week the topic on the YA Rebels was just that, what makes us Rebels? The answers will vary from the silly to the sincere, of course, but this one is actually really important to me.

It's about not being afraid to try.

As always, if you can't see, you can go HERE.

  4. Wow! What amazing experiences. I have always wanted to go backpacking across Europe. Can I ask how long you went? What countries you toured? How did you manage your budget, etc???

  6. Anon!

It WAS an incredible experience, one I hope to repeat again. The trip was just about a month long. I went with my best friend, straight out of high school.

We flew into London, stayed a few days there, went to Dover, took the chunnel over to France, lingered in Paris long enough to see the end of the tour de France, left the city for the countryside and spent the night in a villa in Vouvrais, took an eight hour train to Venice, from there bussed to Rome, where I had a family friend, and then to Florence before training back up to Paris, then back to UK, stayed with family in Canterbury (my mom is British) and then finally flew home :)

Budget was hard, I think we set out 2k, and went a little over, but we stayed mostly in hostels, except for Paris, where they were as expensive as hotels, or with family. We ran over budget by 2-300 dollars.

My biggest rec is to NOT do it in the dead of summer if you plan on visiting Italy. It was BRUTAL. We lived for several days on JUST granitas, because they kept us cool.
